Outside Food
The Great Valley School District does not permit food in the classroom for parties or other activities.
Like many other school districts across the nation, the Great Valley School District continues to see an increase in the number of students who have life-threatening food allergies. In fact, Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) reports that 1 in 13 children today have at least one food allergy and that more than 15% of school-aged children with food allergies have had an allergic reaction at school. As a district that is committed to the safety and well-being of all our students, we take these facts very seriously. To that end, we implement procedures and protocols in all of our schools to minimize the risk of accidental ingestion or exposure to allergens. We thank parents for their help and cooperation with these protocols.
Please note that the practices above do not apply to events after school or evening events. They pertain only to observances and celebrations during the school day. Additionally, students remain welcome to bring an individual snack for consumption during the school day.
