Board Approves Appointment of Superintendent

At its meeting on June 1, the Great Valley Board of School Directors approved the appointment of Dr. Daniel F. Goffredo as the new superintendent for the Great Valley School District. Goffredo will assume the position currently held by Dr. Regina Speaker Palubinsky who will leave the District in July to become the executive director of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit.

Goffredo, who currently serves as an assistant superintendent, is an experienced administrator in the Great Valley School District. He joined the District in 2009 as principal of Great Valley High School. In 2012, Goffredo moved from the high school to district office where he assumed the role of assistant superintendent. His most recent work focused on supervision of the human resources department, including hiring, staff relations, and professional development. He was also the liaison to the school board for policy development and revision.

Prior to joining Great Valley School District, Goffredo worked in the Boyertown Area School District as a high school principal. He began his career as a social studies teacher at the secondary level and also was a wrestling coach.

“Our School Board has every confidence that Dr. Goffredo will provide strong leadership,” said School Board President David Barratt. “As an 11-year veteran of the District, Dr. Goffredo has proven himself to be a skilled and capable leader in our school community. We are very pleased to appoint him to this position, and look forward to working with him on a smooth transition plan as Great Valley continues to pursue excellence in all we do.”

“I am thrilled to assume a new role with the same great team I’ve been blessed to work with for many years,” said Goffredo. “The staff in Great Valley is stellar and the commitment to our students and their families is exemplary. I am also grateful for a community that is engaged in our schools and has a vested interest in a quality public education.”

Goffredo earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Immaculata University. He earned his master’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University and his undergraduate degree from Duke University. His experience includes the facilitation of staff development on assessment, effective writing strategies, and the use of data. His work emphasizes capacity building and effective communication with all members of the school community.
