Board Names Acting Superintendent

The Great Valley School Board announced it has appointed Assistant Superintendent Dr. Daniel Goffredo as Acting Superintendent in the School District, effective for the 2020-2021 school year. The announcement comes as Superintendent Dr. Regina Speaker Palubinsky accepts a new position as Executive Director of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, also effective beginning in July.

“Our School Board has every confidence that Dr. Goffredo will provide strong leadership during this transition,” said School Board President David Barratt. “As an 11-year veteran of the District, Dr. Goffredo has proven himself to be a skilled and capable leader in our school community. We are very pleased to appoint him to this position, and look forward to working with him on a smooth transition plan as Great Valley continues to pursue excellence in all we do.”

Dr. Speaker Palubinsky praised Dr. Goffredo’s leadership skills and assured the community she will partner closely with him to ensure a continuity in leadership.

“It’s with very mixed emotions that I accept this new position,” Dr. Speaker Palubinsky said. “I’m inspired daily by the students and staff of Great Valley who are so well supported by our community, and I will very much miss working with them. At the same time, this is an exciting professional opportunity.”

While Pennsylvania school districts are still uncertain about how they’ll be permitted to operate in the 2020-21 school year, the School Board said Dr. Goffredo is well-positioned to lead the District smoothly through that transition.

“The Great Valley School Board also wants to thank Dr. Speaker Palubinsky for her tremendous leadership for the last five years in helping to move Great Valley forward,” said Barrett. “Her tireless energy, conviction in doing what’s right for students, and adept administrative guidance will most certainly benefit the students of Montgomery County, and we wish her the very best.”

Barrett said the District will communicate thoroughly, sharing details of the transition, plans for closing out the current school year, and the opening of the coming school year, as they are developed in more detail.
