Board Approves Full-Day Kindergarten Program

At its meeting on February 25, the Great Valley Board of School Directors approved a full-day kindergarten program for all students, beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. The District began a process to consider the implementation of a full-day kindergarten program last October. As part of that process, a series of presentations were made to the School Board between October and February that considered a variety of factors including budget, facility space, program implications, and schedule. The District established a section on its website that was dedicated to sharing information related to the exploration of a full-day kindergarten program, and also solicited input via a series of community forums and surveys.

The full-day program will begin at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. In advance of implementation, District administrators and teachers will take what they have already learned about successful programs in neighboring districts and combine it with research to develop a program for Great Valley.
