At a special meeting on May 23, 2022, the Great Valley Board of School Directors approved a number of contracts related to the construction of the District’s new 5/6 Center. A general construction contract, as well as agreements for electrical, food service, fire protection, HVAC, and plumbing construction, were approved. The approval of these contracts signals the timely progress of a project that will bring a new 5/6 Center to the Great Valley School District for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Located on the site of the former District Office (47 Church Road), the new school will be a cost-effective, flexible, and environmentally friendly building with classrooms and learning spaces that support education and innovation. Additionally, as a school for fifth and sixth grade students, the new school will reduce the population in each elementary school and in Great Valley Middle School, thereby allowing the District to accommodate the 900 additional students it expects to enroll in the next five years.
