New Business Administrator Named
At its meeting on April 22, the Great Valley Board of School Directors approved a five-year contract with Charles E. Peterson, Jr., who will fill the position of director of business affairs. Peterson, who is expected to formally begin his tenure in Great Valley on July 1, will replace retiring business administrator Charles Linderman.
Peterson comes to Great Valley from the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit where he served as chief financial officer since 2008. As a senior leader, he oversaw all of the accounting and financial management responsibilities of the Intermediate Unit, including financial analysis and reporting, resources management, business planning and analysis, and performance measurement. He was also responsible for leadership of the physical plant, grounds, risk management and insurances, fleet management, and student transportation. Prior to his work at the Intermediate Unit, Peterson was the business administrator/board secretary for the Williamsport Area School District for more than 13 years. He also served as the executive director of the Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation.
A graduate of Penn State University, Peterson earned his master’s degree in business administration from Bloomsburg University. He is a Professionally Certified School Business Administrator (PCSBA) and a Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations. In 2014, he was recognized by the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Administrators (PASBO) with the Gary E. Reeser Memorial Award as the outstanding school business official of the year. Peterson was the 2018 President of ASBO (Association of School Business Officials) International and is the current chair of the PASBO Health Insurance Committee and vice-chair of the Pennsylvania School District Liquid Asset Fund (PSDLAF).
