     BLACK HISTORY MONTH POSTER CONTEST

    Students in grades K-12 participated in a Black History Month Poster contest sponsored by Neighbors in Black and White Inc. Three students from each level (elementary, middle, and high) were named first through third place winners.

    GVMS STUDENT COUNCIL: DISTINGUISHED KEYSTONE COUNCIL AWARD

    Great Valley Middle School's Student Council was awarded the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils Distinguished Keystone Council Award. 

    The officers of the GVMS Student Council accepted the recognition on behalf of the entire council.

    SCHUYKILL VALLEY AREA HONORS BAND FESTIVAL

    Sixteen Great Valley Middle School students were selected to represent GVMS at the Schuylkill Valley Area Honors Band Festival.

    PRINTMAKING COMPETITION

    127 works of art were submitted by students from 18 schools. All finalists prints are displayed on the Wharton Esherick website. Three Great Valley High School students were finalists in the competition.

    PenSPRA COMMUNICATIONS CONTEST

    Each year, Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association (PenSPRA) provides an opportunity for school district communication professionals to be recognized in the annual Excellence in Education Communications Contest. Entries are accepted in a number of categories to reflect the scope of work undertaken by communications professionals. This year, there were close to 250 contest entries. The GVSD Communications Office earned four awards in the competition.

    Preliminary Budget Information

    At its April meeting, the Board of School Directors approved a resolution setting the preliminary budget for the 2023-2024 school year with a real estate tax increase of 3% which is less than the Act 1 index for the 2023-2024 fiscal year of 4.1%. The millage rate under this preliminary budget would increase from 22.92 mills to 23.61 mills. Click here to see additional information.

     
     

    Local Businesses Invited to Attend Partnership Breakfast

    Representative from our local area are invited to attend the Great Valley School District Education Foundation Partnership Breakfast on May 12, 2023, hosted at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern. Check-in for the morning begins at 7:00 am. Participants will enjoy a warm breakfast, and will hear from GVSD students and staff about how the work of the Foundation benefits them. Learn how the Educational Improvement Tax Credit can benefit your business and our public school students and programs.     Night of Jazz

    Community members are invited to join the Great Valley School District Education Foundation (GVSDEF) on May 10, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. for a relaxing evening of jazz and refreshments at St. Francis in the Fields Church (689 Sugartown Road, Malvern). Admission is free, but donations will be collected to support the GVSDEF Good Neighbor Program, a program that supports GVSD families in need. Complimentary wine and refreshments will be served.
