Meet the Principal
Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Bonnie Citron
Hello! My name is Bonnie Citron and I am the Principal at General Wayne Elementary School. I was born and raised in York County. I currently live in Malvern with my husband Michael, our daughter and son, and our pet boxer.
I earned a B.S. in Special Education from West Chester University. Immediately following graduation, I worked at York Township Elementary School in York County as a learning support teacher for four years. It was during this time that I met my husband and relocated to Chester County.
I was hired at Great Valley School District in 1995 as a learning support teacher at Sugartown Elementary School. I soon finished my graduate degree from Western Maryland College in School Administration.
In September 2001, General Wayne opened as the Great Valley School District’s fourth elementary school. I was hired as the first assistant principal at General Wayne and held that position for five years. In 2007, I assumed the role of elementary special education supervisor and worked with students and staff in all of the District’s elementary schools. In 2008, I was thrilled to move into my current role as principal of General Wayne Elementary School.
Personally and professionally I am involved with numerous organizations such as National Association of Elementary School Principals, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Eastern Boxer Club, a regional dog club.
During my spare time I enjoy going to the beach, traveling, day trips with my family, reading, cooking with my daughter, going for walks, and watching my children perform in dance, horseback riding, baseball and golf.
I am very honored and proud to serve as the Principal of General Wayne Elementary School. I especially love working in the community where my family lives and where we are raising our children. It is a true joy to work daily with our students, our staff, and our parents. All of us are committed to meeting the learning needs of every student and to inspire in them a lifelong love of learning.
