Before the winter break, the Great Valley Middle School PTO hosted the Jingle Bell Jog! This event brought together students, families, and teachers from across the Great Valley School District for a festive fundraiser that raised over $2000 for local families in need this winter. Thank you to the GVMS PTO and everyone who made this event a success!

We are pleased to share that the Great Valley School Board recently approved the appointment of Dr. Elana Betts as the new Supervisor of Student Services.
As Supervisor of Student Services, Dr. Betts will help lead comprehensive support initiatives across academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health domains. The role also supports the implementation of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and special education services while overseeing school psychologists, counselors, sensory support specialists, and social workers.
Dr. Betts brings over two decades of experience in school psychology, educational administration, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to her new role. She currently serves as Administrator on Assignment at the Chester County Intermediate Unit, where she oversees school psychologists, mental health therapists, 504 Service Agreements, and assists the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) process while coordinating psychological services and professional development across the region.
Throughout her career, Dr. Betts has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting diverse student populations. She has served as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Coordinator at the Chester County Intermediate Unit since November 2024, and previously co-chaired the organization's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. In 2015, she founded FRAME (Fostering Resiliency through Advocacy, Mentoring, and Education), an agency dedicated to promoting advocacy for people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, K-12 students, and other underserved populations.
Dr. Betts earned her Doctorate in Education from Penn State University and holds a Master's degree in School Psychology from Rowan University. She is certified in both School Psychology and PK-12 Administration/Principal roles.
Congratulations to Great Valley 5/6 Center teacher Lisa Freeman, who was honored as one of the Phillies All-Star Teacher Award recipients! The Philadelphia Phillies recognized 10 exceptional educators from across the region during their Teacher Appreciation Night on Friday, May 2.
Mrs. Freeman was nominated by her former student, Justin, who wrote a compelling essay detailing how she has made a profound and lasting impact on both her students and the entire school community.
We are incredibly proud to have Mrs. Freeman representing GVSD and shaping the bright futures of our students!
