District Office Departments

The Business Office is responsible for the overall fiscal management of the District, including budget preparation, payroll processing and reporting, accounts payable/receivable, investment of funds, purchasing of goods and services, fixed asset accounting, and real estate tax collection. Right to Know Requests should also be directed to the Business Office.

The Communications Department supports students, staff, parents and community members through a strategic and creative approach to public and media relations, digital communications and internal and external information sharing. Communication strategies include the e-newsletter, SchoolMessenger, news releases, videos, and social media. The Communications Department also manages the senior citizen volunteer program and Adopt-a-Family efforts.

The Facilities Department provides maintenance, custodial, security, and construction/renovation services to support safe, healthy and clean learning environments for staff and students. The Facilities Department also oversees facility rentals.

The Food and Nutrition Services Department provides students and the school community with nutritious, innovative, and reliable food programs that support the district-wide efforts to foster professionalism, learning, and sustainability. A free and reduced meal program is available for families who may need assistance.

The Great Valley School District utilizes a central registration system for all new students. Children must be five years old on or before September 15 of the school year to be admitted to Kindergarten. For additional information about registering a student in GVSD, please click here. 

All public schools of Chester County, Pennsylvania provide special education and related services to resident children with disabilities who are ages three through twenty-one. Special Education means specially designed instruction, at no cost to the parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability. A child with a disability is defined as a child who has been evaluated and found to have speech or language impairment, hearing impairment including deafness, specific learning disability, visual impairment including blindness, emotional disturbance, orthopedic impairment, autism, traumatic brain injury, other health impairment, intellectual disability, deafblindness, or multiple disabilities, and who, by reason thereof, needs special education and related services.

Students who are legal residents of Great Valley School District are eligible for transportation. The Transportation Department is pleased to transport our students to all six of our public schools. Additionally, we transport students to other educational facilities, including a number of private schools.
