Health & Nurses
Great Valley School District Health Services and Policies have been developed in accordance with the School Laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to help all children as they develop physically, emotionally, and mentally. Here in Great Valley, we want every child to enter the classroom in optimal health and ready to learn! Please call the School Nurse if you have any questions or concerns.
Prior to the beginning of each school year, guardians are required to complete a Health/Emergency Information Form for each of your students using Skyward Family Access. You will be notified by email at the end of summer to perform this important update of your child's information. Even if no information has changed, you must update the Form Completion Date at the bottom of the form to indicate your approval for that school year. Please notify the school if any changes occur in your child's information during the school year.
First Aid/ Illness/ Emergency Care
Children who become sick or who are injured at school will receive First Aid or will be allowed to rest for a short period in the nurse"s office. Parents will be contacted if there is a need to refer a child for further treatment. School nurses are prohibited by law to diagnose injuries or illnesses. Please do not send your child to the nurse for diagnosis. Decisions regarding the need for medical care rest finally with the parents. Please keep the school nurse updated if there are any new health concerns, medical diagnoses, or prescribed medicines that may affect your child at school. This information is especially important in emergency situations. In the event of a severe injury or illness, 911 will be called and the child will be transported to the hospital.
