    Good evening students and families!

It's hard to believe, but this is the final WOB for the 2019-2020 School Year!  While I think we can all safely agree that this year did not end as we would have expected, I'm so glad to have been able to have the opportunity to keep in touch with everyone through our Teams meetings.  That being said, I look forward to the fall and our ability to get back to some sense of normalcy ... safely, of course!

Plan for the this week (June 8 & 9): Not too much for this week ... we'll see each other for our final String Tech class tomorrow/Tuesday, so we'll be able to wrap-up everything then.  Don't forget to have a second device handy for a Kahoot!

8th graders ... Mr. Cohen is planning to stop into our class meeting just to say hi and answer any questions you may have for next year.  Just wanted to give you a heads up so you can come prepared with any questions you may have!

School Schedule ...  If you're not sure what the school schedule for the week looks like, be sure to check the School Webpage.  Mr. Search does an awesome job keeping things up-to-date, and everythign you need you need in one place!

I hope you all have a safe, healthy, and fun-filled Summer Break.  I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

    Mr. Cellini

    Good evening students and families!

I hope this week's WOB finds you all well.  I don't know about you, but the "new normal" of this quarantine is defintely starting to lose it's charm!  I find myself looking for new ways to keep myself interested and occupied .... playing my cello and cooking have popped to the top of the list for sure.  I hope you are also finding ways to keep yourself going during these very odd times :).

As a reminder, we will again not be meeting for String Tech this week.  Be sure to touch base with me if you have any questions, and keep up-to-date on Canvas for your weekly assignments.  As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

Pop Song Project Update: WOW!  I have absolutley loved watching some of these videos you are sending me!  It has been so much fun to see which Pop Songs you all have chosen, and many of you are doing a great job of starting to learn how to play that song on your instrument.  This week, I want you to keep moving forward in your song .... exactly what that means will vary depending on the song you picked, so use your best judgment to find natural places in your song to break up your practice!

Don't forget .... if you have any questions, please be sure to reach out and ask!  I'm here to help you as you work through your song.

Plan for the this week (May 4-8): This week, start working on the next section of your Pop Song! For this week's assignment, I want to hear the next 8 or so measures of your song.  If you've worked on more than that, that's great!  Please feel free to play everything you've worked on so far.

Assignment 5 - Another Pop Song Project Check-In! .... Due Friday, May 8

All details for the assignment are posted in Canvas ... check it out when you have a minute, and let me know if you have any questions!

Wrap-Up from last week (April 27-May 1):  As a reminder, we have had 4 assignments due for String Tech to date ... all details for the assignment are posted in Canvas.  If you have not yet taken care of these assignments, please be sure to do so ASAP!

School Schedule ...  If you're not sure what the school schedule for the week looks like, be sure to check the School Webpage.  Mr. Search does an awesome job keeping things up-to-date, and everythign you need you need in one place!

Looking forward to seeing all of you again next week!  Have a great week.

It was so awesome begin able to reconnect with all of you last week!  We went over a lot of information during our time together, but you all did a great job with every step of the process.  I am really excited to continue with our Pop Song Project in Noteflight, and I hope you are as well!

Plan for the this week (April 27-May 1): Now that you have your Pop Song ready to go, it's time to start learning how to play it! For this week's assignment, I want to hear what you've worked on so far.  You'll be recording a video of yourself playing part of your song ... I'd like to hear a minimum of 8 measures, but if you can play more that's awesome!

All details for the assignment are posted in Canvas ... check it out when you have a minute, and let me know if you have any questions!

    Good evening students and families!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I'm so glad that we get to meet again this week for String Tech class ... It's been far too long since we've had the chance to catch up!   I have a lot planned for us this week ... make sure to read below so you're ready to go for class.  As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

Plan for the this week (April 20-24): Since we'll be meeting this week on Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday, we'll go over everything you need to know for the week during our Teams Meeting!  For class, make sure you have your tuned instrument ready to go.

Please note .... for our Teams Meetings this week, look for an annoucement in Canvas at the start of class with a link to join.  Please be sure to follow this link in from Canvas, don't go through our previous meeting in Teams ... the district has changed some of the settings since our last meeting, so that earlier link is not where we'll be meeting from now on!

Wrap-Up from last week (April 14-17):  As a reminder, you had 1 video assignment due last week on 4/17 ... all details for the assignment are posted in Canvas.  If you have not yet taken care of that assignment, please be sure to do so ASAP!

School Schedule ...  If you're not sure what the school schedule for the week looks like, be sure to check the School Webpage.  Mr. Search does an awesome job keeping things up-to-date, and everythign you need you need in one place!

Looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow or Tuesday!

    Good evening students and families!

Welcome Back!  I hope you all had a safe, relaxing Spring Break and are ready to get back into the grind!  The schedule this week does not include String Tech classes, but there will be assignments posted for you to work on this week.  As I mentioned before, my goal for us is to keep things as familiar as possible and keep everyone playing and improving throughout the remainder of the year!  The assignment this week will help to get us back into the swing of things :).  As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

Speaking of Schedules ...  If you're not sure what the school schedule for the week looks like, be sure to check the School Webpage.  Mr. Search does an awesome job keeping things up-to-date, and everythign you need you need in one place!

Plan for the this week (April 14-17)  You have 1 assignment to take care of this week ... it should not take you more than 15-20 minutes!  All details for the assignment will be posted tomorow morning in Canvas.  Be sure to check your String Tech class page at some point tomorrow to check it out!

In addition to this assignment, make sure to keep up your regular practice schedule ... 15-20 minutes a day a few days a week is a great goal!

Talk to you all soon!  Have a great week, and please be sure to reach out if you have any questions!

    Good evening students and families!

I hope everyone had as smooth a transition as possible to a virtual learning environment last week!  While our time together on Monday was short, it was great to see some of you and have the opportunity to reconnect after our time off.  As I mentioned last week, my goal for us to to keep things as familiar as possible and keep everyone playing and improving throughout the remainder of the year.  While the orchestra program may look different in the coming weeks, the goal remains the same!

As we head into Spring Break this week, there are just a few preview items and reminders below to get ready for our return the following week.  As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

8th Graders ...  If you are interested in auditioning for the HS Symphony Orchestra for next year (and you hadn't yet played in person for Mr. Cohen), remember that your video auditions are due tomorrow, April 6.  If you had not yet played for Mr. Cohen, you should have gotten an email from me last week with more specific details.  If you have any questions, please let me know ASAP!

Plan for the week of April 13  When were return from Spring Break on April 14, it looks like the district schedule takes us through Days 3 and 4, so we won't have the chance to meet unfortunately.

That being said, keep an eye out on Canvas at the beginning of the week.  I'll be posting some assignments for you to work on throughout the week.  There won't be anything too out-of-the-ordinary ... just some more specific things for you to practice or review throughout the week.  Be prepared to record something for me by the end of the week to show me what you have been working on.  Again, more details to come, just make sure to keep an eye out!

Uh oh ... your instruments out of tune!  A recording of the Tuning 101 Teams Meeting can be found on Canvas.  If you have any issues accessing it, please let me know!  I've also included the Power Point with some specific things to keep in mind when tuning.

If you have an issues getting your instrument in tune, please reach out!  We can schedule a time to meet through Teams so I can help ... I've already worked with a few students that way to get their instrument in tune, and it has worked out great!

Take some time this week to relax for Spring Break ... I know I will be doing so!  Stay safe, and I'll be in touch next week!

    Best,
    Mr. Cellini

    Good evening students and families!

What a crazy few weeks we've had!!  I hope this post finds you healthy, safe, and SANE during this quarantine.  I cannot wait to get back into the swing of things this week ... albeit a bit different than usual :).  While we are headed out in uncharted waters this week, it's my goal to keep things as familiar as possible ... lots of things may be changing, but luckily we still have music!

Below is the WOB for this week.  As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

Schedule this week:  As you know, the school district has created a schedule where students will be meeting virtually though Microsoft Teams on a regular time schedule.  If you haven't seen it yet, check out our school's website here: https://www.gvsd.org/domain/1020

Tomorrow is a Day 6, so I will be seeing all of you for class tomorrow :).  It will be a short meeting time, but it'll be a great opportunitiy for us to say hello, catch up a bit, and talk about our plans moving forward!  No need to have your instrument ready to go for tomorrow's meeting ... we'll just be talking about our game plan.

Uh oh ... your instruments out of tune!  I would venture to guess that there are quite a few of you have instruments with pretty gnarly tuning right about now!  While I'm sure you are comfortable tuning with your fine tuners, you may be looking at an instrument that requires the pegs to get in tune.  To help out, I'll be offering a Tuning 101 Teams Meeting tomorrow afternoon, March 30th at 1:40pm.  We'll talk more details tomorrow, but get that time on your calendar so I can help you get your instrument in tune!

Orchestra Gear:  In each Course Description, you'll find a list of recommended "Orchestra Gear" for students.  This list is not, by any means, a requirement ... but the items listed are what I consider to be "most important" gear for students to be successful.  If you have any questions about what to buy, where to buy it, or what brands may be best, please feel free to reach out!

Orchestra Schedule:  The Orchestra schedule for this week is as follows ......

Monday (Day 6): String Tech (6/7/8) [Microsoft Teams Meetings]
       Tuesday (Day 1 - Odd)No 8th Pd. Rehearsal

Wednesday (Day 1 - Even): No 8th Pd. Rehearsal
Thursday (Day 2 - Odd): No 8th Pd. Rehearsal
Friday (Day 2 - Even): No 8th Pd. Rehearsal

See you all tomorrow on Teams!

    Best,
    Mr. Cellini
