    Good evening students and families,

Below is the WOB for this week! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!

A note for students returning to In-Person Instruction this week ...  Welcome Back!!!  I can't wait to see you all again in the building on Tuesday 😁.  Below are some reminders/updates for you as you prepare to return this week.
    • Instruments - Don't forget to bring your instruments to school for String Tech on Tuesday!  You can bring your instruments down to the music wing like you normally would and store them in the rooms below:
      • Violins/Violas - Instrumental Room (158)
      • Cellos - Mr. Cellini's Room (147)
      • Basses - See below!
    • Loaner Instruments - Because of COVID protocols, you will not be able to use school-owned instruments if you forget yours at home ... please be sure to set reminders so you don't forget your instrument this week!!!
    • Basses - No need to bring in your instruments into school!  We have enough school instruments to assign one to each of you for your own use ... nobody else will use it.
    • Music & Lesson Book - Don't forget your orchestra music and String Basics book ... we'll be using both this week in class!
Please let me know if you have any questions, I look forward to seeing you all this week!

Info for GVHS for 8th Grade!  Mr. Cohen, the GVHS Instrumental Teacher, asked me to send along some more information regarding course selection for next year.  Check out this link for some FAQ, as well as the PowerPoint Mr. Cohen went over when he visited our rehearsal: https://www.gvsd.org/Page/18657.

Please feel free to reach out to me or Mr. Cohen (scohen@gvsd.org) if you have any questions!

Attention all 7th Graders ...  Just a quick reminder ... we have already begun using String Basics - Book 3 in String Tech class!  If you have not yet gotten your copy, please be sure to do so ASAP!  As always, if there are any issues I need to be aware of regarding the purchase of this book, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Instrument Issues:  If you are having serious instrument issues, I suggest reaching out to your instrument rental company to see if they are offering services in their stores.  Both Music & Arts and Taylor's Music will gladly do minor repairs and tuning right there in the store for you!  If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out!  I'm glad to help.  If you need assistance finding a way to get your instrument in tune, please let me know so I can help!

Private Lessons:  All middle school students should seriously consider taking private lessons outside of school.  The benefits of private study can be seen in school orchestra/lessons, as well as in improved responsibility, time management, and love for music!  I have a list of local private teachers that I would be happy to share with anyone who is interested.  Please contact me if you are interested or have any questions!
