Day 6 - Wednesday, 9/4 - Today we performed the Penny Alchemy Lab.  Afterwards we discussed the results and how the penny was transformed.   HW - 1) Read pages 7-8 in textbook and answer questions 1,2,5 on page 8 for tomorrow.

Day 5 - Tuesday, 9/3 - Today we reviewed lab safety, took the safety quiz, and then watched the "What is Nanotechnology" Video to learn about nanotechnology and about how atoms are so very small.    HW - 1) Returned signed safety contract by tomorrow.  2) Bring a shiny penny to class tomorrow.

Day 4 - Thursday, 8/29 - Today we learned about the safety equipment in room 112 and how/when to use it.  We then simulated a few emergency situations.    Afterwards, students explored 27 pieces of lab equipment that we will use this year and tried to determine the names/purpose of each piece of equipment.  Afterwards we discussed and watched a video on kitchen safety/grease fires.   HW - 1) Study for Lab safety quiz on Tuesday.  2) Returned signed safety contract by Wednesday.

Day 3 - Wednesday, 8/28 - Today we had a guest presenter "Mr. Care Less" perform a chemistry demonstration for our class.  We then discussed safety rules that we need to follow and then watched a short video on lab safety.  When finished, students signed out a textbook for the year.   HW - Complete the "About Me" video on Canvas due by Midnight.  2) Lab safety quiz on Tuesday.

Day 2 - Tuesday, 8/27 - Today we performed the extinguishing candle demo, discussed classroom procedures, played the name game, and then started discussing safety in the chemistry lab.   HW - Complete the "About Me" video on Canvas for Wednesday.

Day 1 - Monday, 8/26 - Today we completed the student information sheet, learned about Mr. Lehman, discussed "What is Chemistry?", went over the course syllabus, checked out a cool demonstration, and then completed an icebreaker activity.   HW - Complete the "About Me" video on Canvas for Wednesday.
