OUR CLASS SCHEDULE/CALENDAR, BASIC DOCUMENTS, PARENT LETTERS ABOUT CURRENT UNITS, AND A HOMEWORK OVERVIEW REMAIN ON THIS WEBSITE. STUDENTS CAN FIND EXTENSIVE CURRICULUM-RELATED SUPPORT MATERIALS IN CANVAS. STUDENTS HAVE AN APP ON THEIR iPADS TO ACCESS CANVAS. CANVAS CAN BE ACCESSED THROUGH A BROWSER USING THE BUTTON YOU SEE BELOW. YOU CAN ALSO SEE YOUR CHILD'S SEESAW JOURNAL BY FOLLOWING THE SEESAW LINK.
MAP TESTING ANNOUNCEMENT
It is mid-year MAP testing time! The Measures of Academic Progress are electronically administered and scored achievement tests designed to measure growth in student learning. MAP is a computerized adaptive testing system that tailors tests to a student’s achievement level. Each student takes a test that is dynamically developed for him or her as the test is being administered. The results will be available to parents/guardians in Skyward in late February.
Students in 5th Grade will take the winter MAP tests on the following dates:
Students who receive Tier Support in Reading and/or are new to GVSD since the fall MAP tests will take the Reading MAP on Monday, January 14 (Group A) or Tuesday, January 15 (Group B) in the AM.
All 5th Grade students will take the Math MAP on Thursday, January 17 from 12:45 PM until finished.
It will be helpful if students get a good rest on the night before each test. Please avoid early dismissals and absences on these dates if possible.
The GWES 5th Grade Team
This is a reminder for anyone interested in chaperoning the 5th grade trip to Washington, D.C. on Friday, May 3rd.
All interested parents will need to have clearances submitted to District Office by January 1st.
We will send home chaperone interest forms only to those parents who have approved clearances on file with the GVSD main office as of January 1st. We will not be able to make exceptions.
Please remember that you must submit clearances as a parent regardless of any clearances you may have for your employment. (i.e. A GVSD bus driver must still submit parent clearances to the district. Parent and employment clearances do not fulfill the same state requirements.)
Please contact the GWES Main Office if you have questions about your clearances.
Please use the following link to submit your clearances:
