Hello and Welcome to MsKnupp's webpage. I have been a teacher with the Great Valley school district since the 2002 school year when I joined the faculty as a Chemistry teacher. Prior to this, I worked in the chemical industry with ARCO Chemical and later Lyondell Chemical after graduating from Drexel University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1994. But it was my passion for teaching which prompted me to return to school and obtain a M.Ed. from West Chester University and join the wonderful Great Valley high school. During my time here, I have been fortunate enough to work in both the Math and Science departments as well as our former AltEd program. I am certified in Chemistry, Physics, and Math and this year I continue in the science department teaching Chemistry.
My educational philosophy is that academic achievement is but one part of student learning and development. In order to prepare our youth they must be informed and knowledgeable, emotionally and physically healthy, motivated, engaged and connected to their communities. Developing the whole child requires a partnership between parents, teachers and coaches, schools, and our community.
I have been fortunate enough in my career with Great Valley to be recognized by the Pennsylvania Association for Supervision Curriculum and Development with the 'Snag in the River' award for teaching excellence in 2008. Also, in 2008, by the Great Valley School District for teaching excellence. And in 2011, I was named one of the Top Ten Teachers of the Main Line, by Main Line Today magazine.
