• The Lightning Thief
    by Rick Riordan

This marking period, we've been reading Rick Riordan's The Lightning Thief, a fantastic tale that follows Percy Jackson as he goes on a quest with Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood...to save the world!

We've been VERY busy while reading.  We've created a WikiSpace, run entirely by our class!!

Please check out our Wiki and let us know what you think!!

To make the wiki possible, we read a chapter or two, and take notes. Then, we meet in class with our group and discuss what we want to add to our pages.  We started by all taking the same notes, but now that we've learned a few strategies, we use the notetaking style that helps us most!  We use all of the following:
    • Post-it notes on important pages/scenes
    • Creating study guide/quiz questions and answers for each chapter
    • Writing a thorough summary of each chapter
    • Creating a cartoon/comic strip representation of important events in the chapter
The last option is one that we highly recommend: Completing a note taking chart! Use this template to download to structure your chapter notes!

    FINAL PAPER ASSIGNMENT

Now that we've almost finished the book, we're going to practice our writing skills using the writing prompts we decided on as a class.
