Dear Great Valley Community,

Who would have ever thought that we’d end the 2019-2020 school year in this way? These are certainly unprecedented times. With uncharted waters comes a need for all of us to rethink many of the conventional ways of doing things. Among those was how the Great Valley School District continued to deliver instruction to the more than 4,000 students we serve. While we are constantly working to improve, never in our more than 50 years as a district have we been forced to rethink education in this way. It is no surprise, however, that the Great Valley community came together to embrace this challenge. Through innovation and creativity, and in partnership with our families, teachers, staff members and community, we found meaningful ways to engage our students in online learning and, more importantly, to keep them engaged and connected. The talents, expertise, and cooperation of this learning community humble me. Thank you for your support and for the value you continue to place on public education.

As we move into the summer and begin thinking about next school year, there are still many unknowns in our community and in the world. While we remain optimistic that schools will reopen in the fall, we are also planning for a variety of scenarios. Our goal remains focused on the safety of our students and our community, while also paying close attention to how instruction might be delivered and how our schools might need to be organized. We will continue to communicate via our website, where you can find updates and program information: www.gvsd.org/covid-19.

I also want to take a moment to celebrate the Class of 2020. Our senior class handled all of the disappointments associated with this year bravely and admirably. It remains so important to us that the class is highlighted and that each student’s accomplishments are celebrated. I hope you’ll join me in taking great pride in our 298 graduates. While the current situation has not yet allowed us to host an in-person graduation celebration, we are hoping that is possible later this summer. In the meantime, please looks for features on our website and on our Facebook page that highlight our seniors and their accomplishments.

Finally, it is with great excitement that I extend congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Daniel Goffredo. Dr. Goffredo is currently an assistant superintendent here in Great Valley, and will assume the role of superintendent upon my departure from Great Valley. It is with mixed emotion that I have accepted a position as the executive director for the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. I will always cherish my time in Great Valley and will continue to take great pride in our district. It has been my honor to be your superintendent for the last five years. I leave knowing that you are in excellent hands. I’m sure you will find Dr. Goffredo to be a student-focused leader who is dedicated to collaborating with teachers and parents for the benefit of our schools. He is well equipped to lead Great Valley into the next part of its story. Thank you for the kindness you’ve shown me and for your ongoing enthusiasm around our students and their education. I will forever hold Great Valley near and dear.

With gratitude,

Regina Speaker Palubinsky, Ed.D.

Dear Great Valley Community,

As someone who has worked to serve the Great Valley community for over a decade, I have had the pleasure of experiencing countless moments of pride, excitement, and joy through my involvement with the Great Valley School District. Whether watching our students excel in the classroom, on a stage, or in the athletic arena, one cannot help but realize that Great Valley is a special place. As a community and school district, the dedication to developing today’s young minds and tomorrow’s leaders is unparalleled. Our strong community to school connections truly create an environment in which students feel supported and nurtured.

As superintendent, I will strive to maintain our high standards of excellence. The District, through the hard of work each and every staff member, will continue to focus on educating and developing the whole child. At the same time, we will be prepared and ready for the uncertain times ahead. Through our collective efforts as a community and school district, Great Valley will continue to serve children and families through its diverse offerings and supportive services. I could not be any prouder of what we have accomplished together, and I look forward to our future successes!

Sincerely,

Daniel F. Goffredo, Ed.D.
Acting Superintendent
