    Great places for great books!

    In addition to getting ideas for great books to read from our book talks in class, check these websites. Many are popular awards given for outstanding children's and young adult literature.

    What should I read next?
    This site allows you to put in a book title that you enjoyed, and it will recommend similar books that you might like too!
     
     
    Good Reads
    This site has lots of different book lists and also shows the books most read this week by kids your age.  You can also read book reviews by other teens.  Go to the Young Adult section.
     
     
    Book Adventure
    Go to the Kid's Zone section and select Book Finder to find books that interest you. 
     
     
    Newbery Medal book list
    The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

    Michael L. Printz Award book list
    The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. It is named for a Topeka, Kansas school librarian who was a long-time active member of the Young Adult Library Services Association.

    Coretta Scott King Award book list
    This award is given to African American authors and illustrators for outstanding literature which promotes understanding and appreciation of the culture of all peoples and their contribution to the realization of the American dream. The award is designed to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to honor Mrs. Coretta Scott King for her courage and determination to continue the work for peace and world brotherhood.

    YALSA's Teens' Top Ten book lists - Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)
    The Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in sixteen school and public libraries around the country. Nominations are posted each year, and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles. Readers ages twelve to eighteen voted online this summer between Aug. 15 and Sept. 16. The winners will be announced during Teen Read Week (Oct 16-22).     Teachers' Choices reading lists - International Reading Association (IRA)
    This site lists books which have been recommended by teachers for students of various ages. Look at the section for Advanced Readers - grades 6-8.

    Young Adults' Choices reading lists - International Reading Association (IRA)
    Check out this site for books which have been recommended by young adult readers just like you. Students in grades 7-12 helped compile the list, so you will have to look closely at the books to see if they are "just right" books for you.

    Chester County Reading Olympics book list
    Reading Olympics is an annual celebration of reading, where teams from schools in the county participate in answering questions about books they have read from the list. The goal of Reading Olympics is to increase the quality and quantity of books students read for enjoyment. Here is the 2019 middle school book list.
