Art Contest Information:
The Great Valley School District Education Foundation (GVSDEF) is excited to announce the second annual art recognition project called SOAR. This project is open to students in grades 5, 8, and 12. GVSDEF seeks to promote and honor student art by recognizing and displaying exceptional artworks.
Participating students will create an original piece of artwork based on this year's theme, "Where do you go or what do you do to feel most refreshed, recharges, inspired?". Please note, only artworks created for SOAR will be considered. Artwork created for class assignments are not eligible. All student artwork submissions should be 2-dimensional and 11 inches by 14 inches. Students may use their own materials and/or use available materials provided by your school's art department. Students will include an Artist's Statement with their work.
GVSDEF will invite a juror to jury the art submissions and select the winners. There will be one work chosen from Grade 5 participants in each elementary school, two works chosen from Grade 8, and two works chosen from Grade 12 respectively by the juror/s. The student artists whose works are chosen will receive a plaque, a selection of appropriate art materials (or gift card), and their work will be framed and permanently hung in the Great Valley School District Office Gallery. Award recipients will be notified by their art teachers.
Students are encouraged to ask their art teachers for additional information. GVSDEF looks forward to recognizing the amazing talents of our students and establishing a permanent student art gallery at District Office.
