The Middle School Choral Program provides opportunities for students to sing in a formal ensemble. Opportunities have also been provided for those students interested in a more challenging vocal experience. The Choral Program emphasizes and expands upon skills learned through the elementary and middle school experience. Attention will be placed on proper posture, breathing, vocal production and quality, intonation, and octavo reading skills of various musical styles. Choirs rehearse twice every six days throughout the school year and also include smaller group lesson instruction. Ensembles include two Concert Choirs at grade level and two Select Choirs by audition. The curriculum supports the National Standards for the Arts as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Education Proposed Academic Standards for the Arts.
