Mr. Walter is currently the primary music teacher at Sugartown Elementary School in the Great Valley School District located in Malvern, PA. His duties include weekly instruction of music classes in grades K-5, as well as band lessons in grades 4-5. Mr. Walter has also taught general music classes and band lessons at General Wayne Elementary School, and student taught in the District during the spring of 1999.
Mr. Walter holds a Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance, as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education, both from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. From 2000-2005, he taught classroom music in the Penn-Delco School District. From 1999-2000, he was Director of Bands and Interim Music Department Chair at Leonardtown High School, Leonardtown, MD. Mr. Walter also holds an Administration Level I Certificate, the coursework for which was completed through The Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Walter is an active member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and National Association for Music Education. In 2008, Mr. Walter served as a guest clinician for the PMEA Annual In-Service Conference, presenting a session on Digital Music and Media. In April of 2016, he again served as a guest clinician for the conference, where he presented sessions on designing effective teacher websites, and communication in the digital age. Mr. Walter takes an active interest in integrating technology into his instruction, having developed DVD-based and iPad-assisted lessons over the years.
In his spare time, Mr. Walter enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, bicycling, watching football, hockey and movies. Mr. Walter is proud to be a part of Sugartown Elementary School and Great Valley School District!
