Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Kyle Hammond

Welcome to a new and exciting school year! First and foremost, I’d like to thank the Sugartown community for your warm welcome and generous support. Indeed, as your new principal, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve you. I look forward to continuing the fine academic performance and cultural traditions that are already established at Sugartown Elementary School. In addition, I hope to add additional perspective that will aid us on our journey of constant improvement.
I began my teaching career in the Philadelphia School District at Vaux Middle School where I taught reading, math, and science. The following year, I joined the West Chester Area School District where I taught sixth grade English at Peirce Middle School. During my ten years at Peirce Middle School, I held a variety of positions within the school: Team Leader, Language Arts Department Chair, Cultural Diversity Action Team Leader, Building Leadership Team member, and seventh grade girls’ basketball and seventh grade football coach. Before leaving West Chester Area School District I served as an Elementary Assistant Principal Intern. My first administrative position came during the 2008-2009 school year when I was hired as an assistant principal at Great Valley Middle School. I left Great Valley in 2012 to assume the role of principal at Manoa Elementary School in the School District of Haverford Township. I am thrilled to be back in Great Valley as principal at Sugartown Elementary School!
My undergraduate degree is from West Chester State University (BS Elementary Education).  I received my Master of Arts in Education from Gratz College and my Principal Certification from Gwynedd-Mercy College.
My leadership style focuses on collaboration and transparency. I have a distinct desire to create harmony around the best needs for children. I firmly believe that our collective success is deeply rooted in a robust curriculum, high-quality instruction, and parental involvement. I look forward to getting to know the Sugartown community and working with you to create the best possible environment for our students!
