Impacts of the Weather (September 1, 2021)

  • Dear Great Valley Family,

As you’ve probably seen, the weather forecast for later today and through the night indicates that our area could see substantial rainfall and flooding. As a result, today’s after school and evening activities are canceled. While we will continue to watch the forecast, we did want to alert you to the possibility of school being impacted tomorrow (Thursday). Should our schools be affected, or conditions in our area prompt us to close schools, we will use our first “snow day” of the year.

We do have makeup days built into our calendar should we need to close schools for weather or some other reason. If schools are closed tomorrow, the makeup day will be Friday, February 18. As always, any decision to close schools or adjust our schedules will be made carefully and after a thorough consideration of conditions in our area.

While we hope to not have to alert you to a school closing, we did want to preempt any call that might be made this early in the year. Should we need to make an announcement, we will use our SchoolMessenger system (phone call, email, text), our website, and our Facebook page to notify you.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and for the efforts you’ve made to ensure a successful start to the 2021-2022 school year.

    Sincerely,

    Daniel F. Goffredo, Ed.D.
    Superintendent of Schools
