    Who is this class for: 

    • This class is for any and all students in grades 9-12 who are interested in learning more about how to exercise properly. 


    In this class, students will: 

    • Learn how to properly use cardiovascular machines such as a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, and stariclimber

    • Understand how to monitor and use heart rate data for performance feedback

    • Evaluate nutritional choices and how they impact the progress toward a self-identified goal

    • How to create a training program based on individual preferences

    • Apply principles of human kinetics to resistance exercises

    • Learn how to use both machine assisted and free weights to train for strength and endurance

    • Reflect on the importance of flexibility using both static and dynamic stretching

    • Identify various resources within a fitness facility and understand their proper use

    • Be able to differentiate between fitness myths and scientific knowledge regarding exercise physiology
