    Mayan Art and Clay Vessels
     
    We begin 6th grade art by studying the art
    of the Mayans. We will design our own
    clay vessels and learn the slab building
    technique to construct one of our designs.
    Pacing: We will be working on this unit

    We will study Janet Fish and Wayne
    Thiebaud, to learn about artistic style
    and still life drawing.
    Pacing: We will be working on this unit

    Print Making
     
    We learn about the artwork and history
    of artists Elizabeth Catlett and Kathe Kollwitz.
    We will also learn about the printmaking
    process and create our own series of prints.
    Pacing: We will be working on this unit
    for two weeks.

    We learn about the artwork
    of Charles Demuth and create a
    graphic design based on his
    Figure Five in Gold (pictured left).
    Pacing: We will be working on this unit

    Notes
     
    Students will be drawing rough drafts,
    taking notes, and answering questions throughout all the studio projects.
