County of Chester's Letter to Schools (Feb 19, 2021)
"The Chester County Health Department recognizes and supports the urgent need to reopen schools as in-person learning is vital for our children in all grade levels. Because of the layered mitigation measures you have successfully implemented, we support schools increasing more in-person learning through reduced physical distancing. Specifically, when certain Community Transmission Levels are met and layered mitigation strategies are continued, schools are encouraged to reduce physical distancing as outlined below." In response to school leaders' need for additional guidance as to the risk of COVID-19 transmission in their communities, the Departments of Health and Education are providing recommendations to Pre-K to 12 schools for use when making decisions related to the instructional models used during the 2020-21 school year.
Included are: flow charts that provide guidance to schools when responding to COVID-19; and preliminary guidance is available to aid in planning for a return to in-person instruction, delivery of services, and resumption of extracurricular activities – including those provided within schools by external organizations.
