Athletic Information

  • Information related to our athletics program will be presented at both the June 29, 2020, and July 20, 2020, School Board meetings.

In June, Athletic Director Michael Semar presented to the Board about pre-season workouts; in July, he will present about PIAA sports in the 2020-2021 school year.

Presentations from those meetings will be posted here.

Plan Highlights: Off-Season Participation

  • The Off-Season Voluntary Return to Participation Plan mandates that all staff and students complete the Great Valley School District COVID-19 Awareness Training prior to returning to Great Valley High School program activities. All off-season programs will be voluntary and will take place on district property. To avoid the overlap of student groups, all student arrival and departure will be scheduled. Students will be responsible for cleaning their own individual school-issued equipment/instruments, but shared equipment and instruments will be cleaned by the district before each practice.

According to the plan, staff will design activities that stress social distancing and hygiene. Locker rooms will not be available to students, and students are required to bring their own hydration as shared water bottles, coolers, and the use of water fountains will not be allowed. All participants must complete a health screening, including a temperature check prior to practice.

Pre-season athletics may begin at Great Valley High School the week of July 13, with each team responsible for establishing its own off-season schedule. A three-day mini band camp at the high school will begin on July 14. Scroll down this page to see the complete plan and the presentation from the June 29, School Board meeting.

Return to Regular Season Participation Plan

  • Guidelines in the Return to Regular Season Participation Plan are intended to provide a plan for the Great Valley School District as we transition back into participation in regular season athletics and marching band. Although precautions will be implemented to reduce the spread of COVID-19, it is important to note that there is no way to eliminate all risk factors. Thus, families and students assume some risk by participating in these regular season activities. Our priority is always to keep our students, staff, and our community as safe as possible. Highlights of the plan are similar to those found in the off-season participation plan. The complete plan is included below.
