Reopening for the 2020-2021 School Year

Creating a new age of learning

Welcome Back to Learning!

  • Welcome back to the 2020-21 school year! This section of our website provides information and resources that may be helpful to you as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. With the safety of our school community as our number one priority, our goal is to provide an engaging and supportive learning environment for our students, staff, and families.
We are all committed to ensuring that the start of the new school year is positive and productive for every student. We continue to look ahead and remain optimistic that our students will physically return to school soon. We know that the connections made in school are positive and necessary for our children’s social and emotional well-being. Their presence on our campuses is also important for us. As soon as we are able, and it is safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming our students, families, and community back into our schools. In the meantime, we are providing a robust virtual program that is focused on engaging our students with their teachers and with each other.

Webinar: School Reopening

  • This one-hour conversation with Drs. Rubin and Matone from CHOP's PolicyLab discusses many of the considerations schools need to make to reopen schools.

Dr. David Rubin is the Director of PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a professor of pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Rubin is one of the lead investigators on PolicyLab’s COVID-19 forecasting model, which tracks coronavirus transmission and test positivity rates across all U.S. counties, and projects case counts for 817 counties with active outbreaks.

Dr. Meredith Matone is the scientific director of PolicyLab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). In this role, Dr. Matone is responsible for overseeing PolicyLab’s research pipeline and recruitment, research-related planning for PolicyLab’s portfolios, and center-wide research strategy and supports provided to PolicyLab researchers.
