Tips for upper body strength during handwriting practice
- Working on a vertical surface promotes upper body strength (e.g. tape paper on the wall, use a standing easel, etc.)
- Working on belly (supported by forearms) is also beneficial for upper body strength
- Practice writing prewriting strokes (i.e. vertical line, horizontal line, circle, plus sign, square, triangle, X), letters or numbers
- If practicing handwriting at a table or desk, ensure your child is sitting up tall with feet on the ground.
