    Dear K.D. Markley Parents & Guardians,

    Hello and welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  We would like to take this opportunity to give you some information about the K.D. Markley Parent Teacher Organization (KDM PTO) and how the PTO accomplishes its mission to enhance student enrichment through parent involvement by providing effective communication and a collaborative effort between faculty, parents, guardians and administration.

    Who we are:  The PTO is comprised of parents, guardians, and school staff.  In order to support our mission, we have a volunteer board and committee chairpersons, and rely on our parent community as volunteers.

    What we do:  We enhance students’ academic experiences through educational and community building events and technology and classroom investments.  The PTO facilitates communication between staff and KDM families and helps to support the efforts of our wonderful teachers.  Some of the great benefits the PTO provides our students:

    How we do it: 

    1. Volunteers: YOU!  We need an amazing network of parent volunteers to be able to provide the wide variety of benefits listed above.  Your involvement as a volunteer is crucial to the success of the KDM community.  Please take a moment to fill out and return the attached Volunteer Signup Sheet.  There are many opportunities to get involved – your time is very much appreciated and is a wonderful way to enhance your child’s school experience.

    2. Financial Support: The PTO raises funds throughout the year to support our many initiatives listed above.  Our fundraisers this year will include:

    Write a Check Campaign (Fall)                Designer Bag Bingo (Spring)

    Book Fairs (Fall & Spring)                         Spring Fair (Spring)

    Directory Sales (see attached forms)        Passive Fundraising (Box Tops, Amazon Smile, etc)

     

    Without your generous donations, the PTO is not able to invest in the programs, initiatives, and events listed above.  Please consider supporting the fundraisers listed above so that we can continue to make KDM the amazing place it is for ALL students to learn and grow.
