Meet Mrs. Van Alstyne
I’m so excited to be your third grade teacher this year! This will be my fifteenth year of teaching. I have taught first grade, third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade.
In the fall of 2004, I graduated with a degree in elementary education from Millersville University. After graduating, I taught fifth grade in the Octorara School District and then fourth grade for nine years at Saints Simon and Jude School. I then joined the Great Valley School District in the fall of 2014. I taught first grade and fourth grade at Sugartown Elementary and then started teaching third grade at General Wayne in the fall of 2015. In addition to teaching, I am currently in the process of receiving my Master's in Education from Holy Family University.
I love being a teacher, and I can’t wait to share my love of learning with you! We will explore the world around us through fun, creative and interactive lessons. Some of the highlights will be having a Colonial Day wax museum, exploring crayfish, learning about animals in research clubs and participating in mystery book clubs. We will also become a family as we support and care for one another.
When I am not teaching I love spending time with my family. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Mike, for thirteen years. We have two beautiful twin daughters, Harper and Emma, who are the sweetest little two year olds. During our free time, we love visiting the beach, exploring new places and just going for walks around our neighborhood.
