This year we will be continuing to use Math In Focus for our Mathematics curriculum. Students will explore Math through a variety of methods including manipulatives, open-ended discussion, and technology. We will be incorporating multiple means of understanding in our class, and large amounts of learning will take place in small-group or one-on-one sessions. This will allow students to explore Math concepts with all of the supports that they might need through both teachers and their classmates.
I also highly encourage families to practice fact fluency with their students at home. Getting a strong foundation in multiplication facts will help us build new knowledge faster.
Students are encouraged to access their textbook online via
https://www-k6.thinkcentral.com. I would also highly recommend practicing on DreamBox at home to gain foundational skills (especially in fact fluency!).
