Welcome to our third grade year! This communication contains FYI material that is important to know prior to the start of the year. I hope it is helpful. If you have any questions, I can be reached at email@example.com or (610)889-1978 ext. 1208.
What to send to school: In order for us to get off to a great start, I would ask that your child only bring the items listed on the list that was mailed home. In addition, assisting your child in preparing those supplies as specified on the list will greatly reduce the time spent organizing on our first day. All other materials will be provided in school, and as our third grade desks can only hold so much, other goodies are best enjoyed at home. Please send the supply items to school with your child anytime during the first week of school.
Snack: Chip Wood (Yardsticks, 2000) tells us, “All ages of children will benefit from having a snack (or snacks) in their school day.” Each morning, the children will be given time to eat a small snack. Please try to send your child to school with a healthy snack (ex. fruit, cheese, veggies) keeping in mind that if any snacks need to be cut up, it needs to be done at home. In addition, snack that are sent into the classroom need to be peanut and tree nut free. Students are invited to begin this routine on the first day of school!
The first day of school: On the first day of school, be sure to check your child’s backpack for a folder containing important information, including a letter outlining our classroom schedule and a few central school procedures.
Thank you for your time, and I very much look forward to our third grade year together!
