• In this course, students will enhance their ability to communicate using basic language skills. An on-going review of grammar as well as new material will strengthen the students' mastery of the language. Vocabulary and idiomatic expressions from different sources will enable students to communicate more broadly at the novice level in the Spanish language. Some topics that students will study this year are: travel and vacation, clothing and fashion, storytelling and legends, food and restaurants, family and relationships, and careers and professions, in addition to exploring the culture of Mexico and Spain. As a reminder, students learn best when actively engaged in classroom activities. Therefore, students are expected to engage in conversations in Spanish for the majority of each class period. While appropriate use of grammar and pronunciation are important when conveying one's thoughts, developing one's confidence in interacting in Spanish is just as important! The more you try, the easier it gets!
