5th grade students will learn about Environments and Ecosystems in marking period one, Astronomy in marking period two, and Rocks and Minerals in marking period three. Students will be expected to keep a neat and organized science notebook that will be graded for effort at the end of each marking period. This notebook will include a table of contents, vocabulary, daily predictions, observations, and conclusions, as well as drawings/diagrams. Students will also complete an endangered species research project and a planet research project. Our first field trip to Paradise Farms this fall will support the work we will complete on environments and ecosystems. Our field trip to Washington D.C.  in the spring will reinforce concepts learned during our study of astronomy and rocks/minerals.
