Dear Great Valley Community Members,

As another school year closes, I extend my sincere gratitude for your interest and involvement in our schools. The 2018-2019 school year has certainly given us many reasons to be proud! One of our greatest moments of Patriot Pride was, of course, graduation. Congratulations to the Class of 2019. We look forward to all the wonderful accomplishments you will continue to make!

As we look ahead at the 2019-2020 school year, there are a number of things we will highlight. For the first time, our kindergarten program will be a full-day program. If you have a youngster at home who will enter kindergarten at the end of August, please be sure to register that student as soon as possible. By registering early, parents allow us the information we need to most accurately plan staffing, supplies, and other things that will be important for the start of the year. We look forward to highlighting our full-day program in the fall.

Additionally, the District will be engaging in a comprehensive study of our enrollment trends and building needs. Over the course of the 2019-2020 school year, we will work with demographers and architects to carefully study and review the longer term needs of the District. Over the past few years, we have seen a growth in our student population that will most certainly have an impact on our building needs. Please watch for more information about this work – and how you might be involved – next school year.

Finally, we wrapped up our Spring Speaker Series in June with a panel discussion about diversity in our schools and how we, as a system, are working to address the needs of our diverse population. As the demographics of our district change and our enrollment increases, it is important that we ensure efforts are in place that encourage all students to feel engaged and welcomed in our school community. I look forward to the work of the Great Valley Council for Diversity and Inclusion and encourage community members who are interested in this work to become involved.

On behalf of everyone in Great Valley, I wish you a wonderful summer. I hope that you find time to relax and enjoy some of the opportunities the warmer weather brings. We look forward to welcoming you back to school in the fall.
